27th April 2012
The 2012 draw is now available. I'll update team pages with individual draw details in the next few days, but if anybody is desperate to know more right now, please download the draw spreadsheet (N.B. now updated to version 2).

17th April 2012
Just a quick reminder about the Bay Day tournament, to be held on Saturday 28th April at Rex Morpeth Park in Whakatane. It's a great start to the season, where children can get to know others in their team by playing in a round-robin type competition, getting plenty of games under their belts in a relatively short time. All teams have been entered, so if you can't make it please inform the relevant coach (N.B. see team lists for team and coach details).

We don't have exact details about the tournament at this stage, but it normally runs from about 9 in the morning to early-/mid-afternoon. When we have more information we'll let you know.

16th April 2012
There has been a problem viewing some website pages on some browsers. I've made some repairs, but please let me know about any additional problems (via ojsc.webmaster@gmail.com) and accept my apologies for unexpected presentation changes.

12th April 2012
The website handover is now complete; please send all requests/complaints/feedback/etc to ojsc.webmaster@gmail.com.
More importantly, the 2012 team lists have now been posted!

19th March 2012
I'm finally back but not for long. This week I have school camp and then I will get a chance to clean the website out from last year and hopefully hand it over to someone else to organise for you.

In the mean time if you have any queries get in touch with our president Amy or Jan Hogg.

Other points to note are detailed below in two letters from Amy, the first outlines the trial dates and the second is a welcome letter that also has a link to the registration site.  Thanks for everything over the past three years and I hope to see you all around the pitchs.

Simon

From Amy, 29th Feb 2012

Welcome to the Ohope Junior Soccer Club 2012 Season!

Let me start off by saying a huge ‘THANK YOU’ to all those parents, coaches, committee members and sponsors who helped give our club such a wonderful 2011 season.  And of course to the players, these wonderful and enthusiastic children are what make our club so great! Thanks kids!!!

With our 2012 season come some changes ... OJSC along with the rest of the soccer clubs in the Eastern Bay will trial the ‘National Junior Framework’ under ‘The Waikato Bay of Plenty Football Federation’ or ‘WaiBOP’ for short.  Firstly, this means a change in what grades are referred to.  6th Grade will now be known as Under 6, 7th Grade - Under 7 and so on.  So, if your child turns 6 before the 31st of December, they will be classified as Under 6 grade this year.

Budding Beckhams (4-5 year olds)                                  3 v 3 or 4 v 4
Under 6 (5-6 year olds) (prev known as 6th Grade)         3 v 3 or 4 v 4
Under 7 (6-7 year olds)                                                  5 v 5 no goalie
Under 8 (7-8 year olds)                                                  5 v 5 with goalie
Under 9 (8-9 year olds)                                                  7 v 7 with goalie
Under 11 (9-11 year olds)                                              9 v 9 with goalie
Under 13 (11-13 year olds)                                            11 v 11 with goalie

For our youngest players, The Budding Beckhams (4-5 year olds) and our Under 6's, a ‘Pod‘ system is planned and will be held at Warren Park in Whakatane every Saturday morning from 9.30 am - 10.30 am.  In a nutshell, it means younger players will have increased ball contact and they will face more competition by playing more teams as opposed to just one.  We will get more information through to you as soon as possible or you can call Mike Ward on (07) 211 7855, mobile 021 321 358.

Another change this season to help create a more enjoyable atmosphere each   Saturday morning at Bluett Park (as well as help raise some funds for our club) is the introduction of a sausage sizzle and a small snack shop.  The idea is to organise a team roster to run the fundraising activities - cooking sausages, selling bottled water, fruit, potato chips and so on.  Once teams and numbers are known, a roster will be drawn up with only a small commitment required of each team throughout the season.  More information will follow before the season kicks off.

There will also be some changes at Bluett Park with the layout of some of our pitches as the Ohope Tennis Club is keen to relocate their courts.  Nothing has been decided 100% yet but we will keep you posted.  The council is proposing to add a footpath around the perimeter of the fields close to the drains and we are hoping that some sort of fencing will be erected to stop balls going into the drain - yay!

Another big change this season will be the introduction of GoalNet to complete all registrations and payments.  GoalNet is a new and exciting web based solution which allows clubs to manage membership information, registrations and payments.  TO REGISTER YOUR CHILD WITH THE OJSC AND TO PAY YOUR MEMBERSHIP FEES, PLEASE GO TO:

AND FOLLOW THE PROMPTS - easy peasy!  Please note registrations close on GoalNet on the 21st of April 2012.

Membership fees for the 2012 season are as follows

Budding Beckham’s and Under 6 - $40.00 per child
Under 7 - Under 13 Grades - $55.00 per child
Family discounts - 2 players = $10.00 off total fees, 3 players = $15.00 off total fees
Coaching discounts = $10.00 off total fees

Sadly we say goodbye to a few committee members this year.  Our cracking ‘Club Captain’ Mr. Kenny McCracken, our treasured ‘Treasurer’ Mr. Andrew Gordon and the wonderful wizard of a ‘Webmaster’ Simon Mitchell ... you will all be sorely missed and we can’t thank you enough for all for your time and effort over the last 3-5 years.  Smashing boys!

On that note, the Committee desperately needs new members & we encourage anyone who would like to join the team to please do so.  Any and all help is welcomed and much very much appreciated! The more the merrier and many hands make light work.  If you are interested in joining the Committee, please contact Jan Hogg on jan@coastalbuild.co.nz or register your interest via GoalNet.

Our committee members for 2012 so far are...
Amy Hayes                     President                        Ph: 3125394

Jan Hogg                        Secretary                        Ph: 3125730

Glenn Ellery                    Treasurer                       Ph: 3124657

As the ‘Grade Coordinators’ and ‘Team Managers’ did such wonderful jobs last season, we will be electing people for these roles again.  Their main job will be to liaise with parents and the committee and support coaches throughout the season, assisting with trials etc. If you are interested in assisting in either of these roles for the 2012 season, please contact Jan Hogg on jan@coastalbuild.co.nz or register your interest via GoalNet.
