Good on you for putting your hand up to coach. We hope that you get a lot out of the experience. Try to maximize this by attending coaching courses. I know this seems like a drag but if you find yourself fronting up to the kids with some uncertainties, attending a course will give you confidence and ideas and increase your own enjoyment. Let's face face it - you are going to be spending 2-3 hours a week on this for the next few years....why not spend an hour or two making it better for yourself? Coaching courses not only give you technical expertise but help you with some underlying philosophical stuff about how to coach kids and also answer that question" How do I relate to a bunch of 7 year olds?" Courses are now being offered through the JMC. These courses are invaluable (especially as there will be a push to ‘badge’ coaches in 2010.) The courses will be offered later this year..If you are interested please contact myself on 3125394. We'll
be posting stuff up here from time to time but for now here are a
few links that can take you to other coaching resources.
