12th September 2011 Please note the change below, the prizegiving will now be held on the 29th Sept not 22nd Sept 11th Sept 2011 Just a wee note to let you know what is going on. The end of year break up has been set. the break up is going to be held at the Ohope hall at bluett park at 5pm sharp Thursday 29th September.(coaches can you please bring all of you kit back) There will be a sausage sizzle and drinks for the kids to keep them going and a coffee cart, and deli van for the adults. We are going to keep it pretty short with a start to formalities expected around 5:15 followed by a lollie scramble for the kids so they make it to bedtime. I know that the season has now finished for a lot of you but for those who are still playing good luck and we hope to see you all there with bells on. 13th Aug 2011 Well it has been great to see a bit of sun and short grass on Bluett park. The results are rolling in and there have been some good ones to boot. Keep it up kids and most of all please enjoy yourself. By all accounts the tournaments have been a huge success and a good break from the everyday games being played on Saturdays. The 9th Grade Prems have their tournament in Kawerau this weekend are I know are looking forward to it. On another note the Committee has noticed that there is quite often a mix up on what field our teams are supposed to play on and in particular the 8th and 9th grade fields. The 8th grade field is closest to the hall and has the moveable posts and the 9th grade field is closest to the drain and has the fixed stainless steel posts. please can you ensure that when botht fields are being used that they are being used by the correct grades. It is unfair to have older kids on smaller fields, the fields are sized to suit the age of the players and their skill. Thanks again and keep it up 12th July 2011 Still wet I guess is probably the best way to describe what has been going on. It is a sentiment that is held by all the other clubs as well, and the message is to just stick to it it has to improve. There are some great result coming in when games are getting played and I know that there are a lot of people out there that would love to read a little bit about them. So why don't you just put pen to paper so to speak and send me a match report to put on the website. Perhaps a photo or even a link to a video on you tube? It can all be done and it is so easy. I would hate to think that the website doesn't last because we are a little casual about what we do for our kids. So come on give it a go !!!!! 21 June 2011 Well, it has been a while an since I have been able to get to the website and get things done and I apologise for that but things have been pretty hectic. The weather has made it a very hard season to get into for our team and I know that there must be other teams in the same situation. It seems we are able to practise during the week and then the game is called off or the holidays strike and then the next week we can't practise but the game is on. stick at it coaches I'm sure that we will get a roll on from now on. I will finish with a big Congratulations to those kids that have been selected for the rep teams and for those who made the trials and didn't quite make the actual teams. Keep it up all of you you make us proud as a club and as parents. 24th May 2011 Two weeks down and some great results coming in. However it is a bit of a shame that we haven,t got more write ups and photos to show what we are made of. Coaches I urge you or your managers to ask someone to do write ups or take photos. All they have to do is send me an email telling me what happened and perhaps a photo or two with captions and Everyone gets a kick out of it (sorry about the pun). I bet that your team would love to call their extended family and tell them to check out the photos etc on THEIR web page, they become and instant star and earn some of their 15 minutes of fame. I will continue to post the results for each team but may be a bit slow over the next week as I recover from my knee operation. Thanks again and GET WRITING. We've had 2500 hits so far this month so people are reading our stuff. 18th May 2011 Well the season is now underway and I just thought that I would let you know that I am putting the results on the website as they come to hand and encourage you to get together and get something in to me to add to your teams page. It really is a great way of letting family know what you are up to and how much fun you are having. We have one team who has even posted a link to a video of their game! Great stuff. 14th May 2011 Well the season is underway and the results will start to roll in. Don't forget to send me in your team reports and photos so I can keep your website up to date. Also to the managers & coachs you need to get your results in ASAP to the reults officer by emailing Nicola or phoning her on 3125011 4th May 2011 Just a quick note
to let you all know that your coaches
should have the draw for the
year by now and I have put it on
your individual team pages.
However I have had to imput these
dates & times and teams by hand so
please check to see that it matchs
what you/your coach has before
treating it as gospel.
Don't forget that this weekend is Bayday. the tournament is held at Rex Morpeth park and starts at 9am. So check with your coach that your team has been entered and make sure that you are there by 8:30am to warm up. Have a great few days and I will see you on the weekend. Also please note that we will be holding a Boot Swap on Friday 6th May 2011 @ 2.30pm. It will be at gate of Ohope Beach School (straight after school). Rules are that you swap 1 pair of worn boots in good condition for 1 pair of boots from stall. If you have no boots to swap you may purchase 1 pair of boots for $5.00 from stall. A notice will be placed in the school newsletter this Thursday. 26th April 2011 Well things are well underway, most teams are training, some teams are playing in a tournament this weekend and I have finally got the team names and have started a web page for every one of them. So now it is up to you, get training, work hard, play hard and get some photos into me so I can post them on your teams web page. Thats all I have to say for now so keep in touch and see you at training or bayday. Good luck!!!!! PS Still looking for someone to take over the website management so drop me a line if you are interested it really is easy and rewarding. PSS Keep as look out I should have the draw up within the next week and if I don't email me and give me a rev. 19th April 2011 Sorry I have been a bit slack but have been awfully busy over the last couple of weeks with trials and trainings etc. Yep that's right we have started already, the trials were a great success and many teams are starting to train this week. Please keep an eye on the website as it won't be long until I have confirmation of the team names and the draw for this year. I promise I will get it on the website as soon as it is to hand. For those that are interested there is a tournament in Rotorua on the 1st may, it is a fundraiser for Red Cross Christchurch and at this stage they are guaranteeing 4 games per team. It starts at 9am and is for 9th grade and above. If you are interested I know that there is one 9th grade team going so far but the more the merrier. Don't forget that we are now only 2 1/2 weeks from bayday (7th May) and 3 1/2 weeks from the start of the season so get out there and practice, train hard and most importantly have fun. Finally I would just like to add that it would be great to get a heap of photos and information in for every team this year and it is never to early to start, so please get a team photo in asap and I will put it on the website. 30th March 2011 Well enrollments are well underway and in fact the discount period ends on the 31st of this month so be sure that you get your enrollment packs in or postdated prior to that day to make the most of the cheaper rates. The numbers that are coming through are encouraging but we could always do with some more to fill up teams and make for a great football atmosphere in 2011. We are also very encouraged by those wishing to take more of a part in their child's football by volunteering to coach, manage, referee or join the committee. I know that all of these jobs are rewarding and we can never have enough volunteers so please get in touch with Myself or our President Amy if you you would like to help out. I know we are trying to get a coach and a manager for each team and the committee could always do with a hand.(on that note if someone would like to learn how to run the website, and perhaps like to takeover the role gradually throughout the year looking towards full control next year please let me know. It is not really a hard job just doing lots of cutting and pasting and doesn't require a huge PC knowledge or background, I know I was surprised how easy it is.) Last but not least the grade coordinators have now met to get to know what is planned and where to go from here, especially leading into the trials which have been set down for the following dates and times. Thanks again for using the website and see you soon. Email the webmaster Thanks again to you all, Simon Mitchell. |
