The
McMecking Memorial trophy tournament is a dedication to the McMecking
family. This family lost three members in a tragic road accident in
November, 2000.
They
were committed club members, dedicated to the
well-being of the club and soccer in the region, and are missed by many
friends in the area.
McMecking Tournament
2010 has been confirmed as being held on 9th May 2010 watch this space
There will be 64 teams playing on 3 courts in the Ohope hall and we are hoping for a carnival atmosphere so bring along your south American flare and dress up if you wish. The tournament will be indoors for the 8th, 9th, 11th & 13th grade teams and outdoors for the 6th, & 7th grade there will be 16 teams in each grade ( although the 6th & 7th grade will not be as large) games start at 830am and you need to be ontime otherwise the the team will take the points. The games are 5 minutes long for every grade and a new game starts every 6 minutes. Generally you will have about an hour between games to enjoy the atmosphere, have a drink and a stick of candy floss or a sausage. So bring an open mind, a competative nature and a smile cause its going to be a great day. We will also be having a charity auction of a few items I have been able to get a hold of. A NZ football playing shirt signed by the Allwhites just prior to there trip to the Confederations Cup, a signed BOP rugby jersey (top of the table team of course), and the odd voucher or two. There will be more and you have to be there to be in. Check out these links if you want to know more.
