2010 draw result

Ohope Stealth vs WHK Stealth.

Game got off to a slow start for the 1st 15 minutes. Both teams failing to set up any real opportunities.
Finally after 25 minutes Revell  put a well weighted cross in from the right wing finding the head of Leo G who scored a great goal. 1-nil.

The game started to open up a bit. Jonathon had a good shot at goal just missing.
Meanwhile down in the engine room Jamie was having a great game in defence, really putting in some good tackles.
The half time score closed at 1- nil but might have been different if it wasn't for a good performance from the WHK keeper.

Soon into the second half Daniel put a nice/long ball into the penalty area finding Revell who guided the ball into the net. 2-nil.

Liam scored from a well placed shot. He put the ball over the keepers head. 3-nil.

WHK scored next from corner set play. They caught Ohope half a asleep. 3- 1

Revell put another cross in finding Leo C who made no mistake, placing it past the keeper. 4-1.
Not long after Jonathon put a nice ball through to Leo C who then dribbled, clearing the defence and placing the ball past the keeper. 5-1. Nice goal!

Revell got the next goal by being alert and feeding on the scraps during a messy piece of play in the goal area. 6-1.

The Final goal came from a bit of bad luck for Daniel who was taken out in the penalty area after beating his man. Revell saw the loose ball and put in the net. No need for a penalty. 7-1.

Joe played a full game for Ohope in goal. He displayed good keeper skills and denied WHK on several occasions. A good lesson on why it's important to have full time goal keepers at this level.

Again solid games from Robby, Amadeus and Cole in defence.
Reece played well at sweeper.

Player of the day.
Leo G

Ohope Stealth vs WHK Iti ma.

Very cold frosty morning but the Stealth got off to a good start. All Stealth attack for the 1st half.
Leo C took a longish shot after 15min which the goal keeper got a hand to but couldn't prevent the goal.
Leo G tried to hit a couple balls on the fly but missed. The 3rd time he controlled with the 1st touch and then hit into the net.
Joe took a well placed corner for the Stealth which Leo C headered into the net. Awesome goal.
Mean while at the other end of the park Amadeus was cleaning up and covering well.
On the right wing Jonathon and Revell were working well together.
Another header from Leo C was just wide.
Next was Robby who pounced on a mid field mistake by WHK and put a long shot in of the right post.
Revell put a well struck ball over the X bar.
Last goal of the 2nd half was from Revell who scored from rebound of the keeper.
Half time score 5-0.

2nd half was more even as Coach Chris changed the team around try other combinations.
the 6th goal involved a well weighted X by Shaun which found Reese who put a well place kick past the keeper.
At this point the Stealth started to forget about defense and paid for it. After some confusion between Rev and Reese Whakatane gained the ball and broke away past the half way to an empty field.
Joe did brilliantly to save the 1st shot but WHK got it in off the rebound.
In fact Joe made various saves when playing keeper in the second half. Well done.
Final score 6-1.

Player of the day was Revell. Points noted were fittness, cover defense and passing game.

Trivia Question.
Stealth Spectators were asking what "Iti ma" means's. Assuming it's Maori, the dictionary suggests it mean's "Small whites" But I've been wrong before".

Ohope Stealth VS Opotiki.

A one sided 1st half with the Stealth creating plenty of opportunities.
Goals scored by Liam, Amadeus, Leo C, and Joe got 2.
The Opotiki defense struggled despite the efforts of their goal keeper. Unfortunately the numbers on attack and the speed of the Stealth were their worst enemy as plenty of further opportunities were lost to off side.
1st half score 5-0

The second half saw a better defensive effort by Opotiki. They cleared better and their centre back (#8) defended and cleared well.
The Stealth goals came from Joe, Leo G and Jonathan.
Both Leos' and Jonathan's goals were well controlled and belted into the net. Nice Stuff.
Good to see Joe and Revell following through and putting pressure on the goal keeper.
Daniel, Cole and Reese had solid games. Robby underpinned the defense and put in some nice long range shots which kept the keeper on his toes.

As the final minutes approached it looked like Opotiki would get their goal. It wasn't to be as Stealth second half keeper Leo Caught the ball as it nearly went under the bar. Great save.
 Final score.
Stealth 8 Opotiki 0

 12th June.

Ohope Stealth were to play the Whakatane Gladiators. However the Gladiators had to default due to a lack of players on the day. Stealth donated a couple of players and the teams had a friendly.
8 goals scored in the 1st half for the stealth by; Revell, Joe,Leo G, Reece and Liam.Arlo and Daniel played for the Gladiators. Thanks Guys.

In the 2nd half the teams were mixed up more evenly with a number of Stealth playing for the opposition. This meant the goals weren't so easy an the defense got a work out.

Leo C and Reece scored for the opposition giving them 2 goals.Arlo and Liam scoring for the Stealth.

Player of the day was Liam.

Jonathan and Reece had good games.

5th June

Catch up on last weeks game. 5th June. Sorry I was away.

Whakatane Stealth won 4 goals to 2. I'm told the whakatane team played well while the Ohope Stealth had a patchy game.

 Ohope Stealth VS Saints.

A really good game which both teams played in a clean , free flowing spirit.
Both teams had strong games in general play with both defences having to work hard. Once again the main difference was the Stealths ability to build goal scoring opportunities and then put them in the net.

The Saints were the stronger in the first 15 minutes and really put the pressure on the Stealth. Finally the Stealth warmed up. Leo Griffiths put the ball in the net after 21 minutes. 5 minutes later Joe Hall score with a left foot shot. Joe scored another goal 3min later.

The game was tilting in the Stealths favour now but the Saints never gave up.

Robby Mercer, who was playing in goal, had to make several saves.
Half time score 3-0.

The second half was just as hard and fast and the spectators very vocal.

Goals were initially hard to come by although there were some good efforts.
The Saints finally scored. A good shot that was placed perfectly passed the Stealth keeper. Good reward for the Saints supporters.

The final goal was a Leo Casey long range chip that put the ball over the Saints keeper and just under the bar.

Final Score 4-1 to the Stealth.

May 8th
Billed as a local darby the Stealth expected the Whakatane Phoenix to be their strongest challange this session. It looked like the Stealth were in trouble after a cold start in the first 10. It was all "Phoenix" but then on the Stealth's first visit on attack Leo Casey put the ball in the net with one of his trademark long range shots.
The Game changed.
The Stealth passing game came together..
20min. Joseph Hall scored off a corner from Leo Griffiths.
22min. WHK missed a shot from the left of the box and soon after put one over the bar as well.
Great work by our defenders kept the half time score 2-0.

5min into the 2nd half WHK missed a penalty shot.

Joe was on hand again to clean up after a Stealth corner. Score 3-0
Our defence had to work hard. Leo Casey saving a certain WHK goal.
After 45min Liam shot the ball over the keeper's head making the score 4-0
A good through ball from Daniel McKenzie gave the Steath an attacking throw in. Robbies throw  found Joe who completed his hat trick. Score 5-0.

Near the end off the game WHK scored a great goal from a long range shot from the right wing.
Score 5-1 to th Stealth.
Player of the day was Arlo England. Well deserved after a strong effort in defence and half a game as goal keeper

May 1st.
Ohope Stealth hosted Whakatane Iti Ma. The Game started evenly and Iti Ma defended well. However as the game went on the Stealth got it together and started to find the pack of the net.The scoring was started by Liam Fonville-Gordon from a hand ball penalty.  Final score 5-1. A good start for the Stealth.
